The Monterosa Ski area is in the Aosta Valley province
of Italy, and boast collectively some very
nice
skiing
at the foot
of Monterosa Ski,
Europe's
second highest mountain.In addition all
of the skiing covered here,
The
Monterosa Ski area boasts over 180 km of
prepared slopes serviced by 38 lifts. As you
will see in our in depth skiing section, this
skiing is shared by all of the resorts listed
above, and with good lift connections between
them.
In spite of the more than respectable
altitude, the area also caters to
cross country skiers too with about 30kmof CC
trails on which to strut your stuff. Based at the foot of Europe's second highest mountain,
the area has varied and well-connected skiing
which is totally enjoyable from almost any village
base. As the area
is fairly challenging, it is
probably best suited to those skiers with decent
to good skills, with enough absolute beginner's
terrain available so as not to exclude them from
the party.
Although not 100% interconnected by the lift
system the region is convenient in that one can
cover almost all of the acreage on skis, with a
free ski bus taking up the slack where skis fear
to tread. As the Monterosa Ski area is still
largely undiscovered by the masses it still
represents good value. This holds true for the
lift pass and in hotels and restaurants as well.
Yours truly even discovered a great little
mountain chalet that is perfect for groups. Each
of the resorts listed above is a separate entity
and each has its own ski school with many
English speaking teachers.
