These
two runs are definitely easier - but the great slope, the run that leads
across the woods from the Plateau of Crest to reach Champoluc (Pistone del
Bosco), is of some technical difficulty. Not to be recommended for absolute
beginners.
For
others however Pistone del Bosco is definitely on the "must do
list" as it is one of the most enthralling slopes of our area. The
whole distance from Sarezza (2.703m) to Champoluc (1.580 m.) is among the
longest descents served by a programmed snow-making system in the Alps.
But
let's go back to the top of Sarezza. What about choosing the way on your
left? Skiing down on the northern side the first slope you will see is
"Vatourna", a medium difficult piste that could cause you some
worry when you first set out. Don't fret though.
After
the first 150m or so it flattens out into an enjoyable and easy to navigate
motor way. On Vatourna, the snow keeps its excellent quality all year long.
Its main characteristic is that it doesn't skirt any ski lift and is located
in a pretty, unspoiled point.
After
this exhilarating 3,300 m. run you are forced to make another decision. Do
you take the chairlift on your left and go back to the Champoluc-Crest area,
or go right and connect with the Frachey area and the facilities leading to
Gressoney: For further information about the connection Champoluc -Gressoney,
