I.A.T. Sappada Tel: 0435 469131 Fax: 0435 66233

In the northern part of the province of Belluno, in the upper Piave valley, lies the German-speaking island of Sappada, encircled by the Terze, the Ferro and the Siera chains. The Piave rises on Val Sesis, at the foot of Monte Peralda, which separates Sappada from Austria. Colonized around the year one Thousand by Tyrolese groups, Sappada has retained traces of its origins in its dialect, in the structure of its old wooden houses, in its folklore and in its tradition. One of these is Carnival, whose protagonist is the Rollat, dressed up with a thick bear fur. In winter 21 kilometres of downhill and 15 kilometres of cross-country skiing runs, where Olympic athletes like Silvio Fauner and Pietro Piller Cottrer train.
