Getting to beautiful Cortina

Our gateway is surely Venice Airport, less than two hours driving to/from Cortina. Getting out of the Airport Marco Polo, you'll reach the main road, turn right and go ahead 1 mile.

You will meet a light and hereyou have to turn left. You enter the Autostrada (turnpike) follow the signTreviso and go straight for about 100 Km at the end of the Autostradafollowing the signs Cortina you will meet the main road. From that point you have to drive for 45Km (30 miles) follow signs Cortina and you are intown.

Our second airport is surely Innsbruck, about 180 Km to Cortina and 3 hours driving. Munich and Milan are at least 5 hours driving away from Cortina.

A bit of a history lesson

Cortina belonged to the Austrian Empire, from 1511 to 1918. From this date it became Italian. Cortina in fact is in the Region Veneto. The Capital is Venice. So contrary to popular beleif, Cortina is not in the South Tyrol. Please consider that about 65% of all Dolomites Mountains are in Veneto region.

The name Dolomites (considered among the world's most beautiful mountains) came from a French geologist who first discovered (year 1788) that the chemical composition of our rocks was completely diffent of any
other rocks in the Alps. The name of the geologist was Deodat de Dolomieu.

Cortina was the first Italian town to host the Olimpic Games in 1956, the 7th Winter Olympics.

The name Cortina is a new name. Infact before 1918 the name was Ampezzo, the name of the valley. Cortina was one of the six villages composing Ampezzo. Cortina was the village round the Church.

And, just in case you didn't know

Cortina has the biggest ski school in Italy

Cortina is considered in Italy the most important mountain Winter and Summer resort. We usually say, if you have a house in Cortina it means you are someone, otherwise....For this reason someone says "In Cortina you can ski too".

Get connected

During the whole Winter Season the airport of Venice is connected by bus, two times, on Saturday only, with Cortina. This is a special service for all clients of the Hotels. Infact booking have to be done through the
hotel management. This service is complimentary. This is the timetable

There's no limits to Cortina's possibilities

We have a company here in town named CORTINA NO LIMITS, during the winter season they organize two services: Taxibob and Snowrafting. Taxibob means a 4 men bobbsleigh with a driver and a breaker professional and the two seats in between ar reserved to the clients. We use the Olimpic bob's piste. Snowrafting means a downhill on a raft on the Olimpic Ski Jump. Both are really fantastic.
