Financial shots: Italy Skiing

It is true that the global financial situation is not helping, but this year the downturn was offset by great weather condition in terms of snow & sun. It has been so long since the last Christmas & NYE with so much snow both in the Alps & the Appennines (usually Christmas is bizarre... if it snows on the Alps, it is too warm in the Appennines.. or viceversa... snow in the Appennines but it is too cold up in the Alps).
All italian ski resorts were invaded by skiers, almost no vacancies during the two busy weeks. Hoteliers & tourism board say they have reached a number of presences that they were not seeing since years.
It is also true that Italy is cheaper compared to Austria & Switzerland... perhaps situation in those two countries might have been difficult.
Also, temperatures are still low... which means that we expect the good base of snow to keep 'till Easter.
